No-Limit Texas Hold’em Rules

No-Limit Texas Hold’em is the easiest of all the poker variations to learn.  Each player is dealt two hole cards, and they attempt to form the highest hand using their cards plus the 5 community cards in the middle of the table.  The betting is only limited by the amount of money a player has (hence the term No-Limit).

Players have several options as the action moves to them: fold, check, call, and raise.  Of course, players’ actions are restricted due to what has occurred before them.  For instance, if another player has raised the pot, you cannot check as you must either call the raise or fold.  Whoever forms the best hand by the river, or is the last remaining player in the hand, will win the pot.

No-Limit Texas Hold’em Strategy

Strategy for No-Limit Hold’em gets very extensive as you get more involved in the game.  However, basic No-Limit strategy revolves around being selective with the hands you play, and trying to conceal your actions from opponents.

In regards to hand selection, you want to stick to the best hands like A-A, K-K, Q-Q, and J-J until you get a better feel for the game.  Once you develop some experience, you should play a lot more hands and get involved in more pots.  As far as concealing actions from other players, you need to avoid being predictable by switching up your style of play from conservative to aggressive (and vice-versa).
